P186X's main building is located on 750 Jennings Street in the Bronx, NY. It is a member of New York City's District 75, the largest Special Education district in the country.
MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS
Our vision is to improve students' independence, communication skills, and problem solving skills through the use of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI). At P186X, we believe students will view themselves as readers and writers as a result of participation in culturally responsive and authentic reading and writing tasks.
Our mission is for all students to be engaged and excel in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), academics and social skills to transition students into a Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) by providing them with direct explicit instruction and prepare for college and careers.
DISTRICT 75 MISSION
D75 provides quality and rigorous individualized educational programs to students with significant challenges and diverse language styles in a variety of settings that nurture independence, ensure dignity, and support integration into the community.
P186X CEP Goals 2019-2020
TGoal 1- College, Career, and Civic Readiness: Promote College and Vocational awareness skills to support independent living through training, education, rehabilitation, and career development. Leveraging the following Five Core Social Emotional Competencies to prepare students for post-secondary options: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making.
Goal 2- Graduation: P186X strives to prepare students with essential behaviors/skills to link to success in academics and selection of post-secondary options.
Goal 3- Mathematics Leveraging and reinforcing the use of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) within the Instructional Core by implementing a multi- tiered student intervention plan across all content areas as evidenced by students gain from base line to endpoint assessment in Math.
Goal 4- ELA/Literacy: Leveraging and reinforcing the use of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) within the Instructional Core by implementing a multi- tiered student intervention plan across all content areas as evidenced by students gain from base line to endpoint assessment in ELA.
Goal 5- Safety and Restorative Approaches to Behavior: Reduce the number of incidents reported on Online Occurrence Reporting System (OORS) to promote appropriate behaviors according to P186X PBIS Handbook in order to maintain physical and psychological safety.
